Massive Attack’s Act 1.5 Show: A New Era for Eco-Friendly Live Music
Massive Attack’s Act 1.5 show in Bristol aims to set new standards for decarbonising live music. In light of climate concerns, the band introduces innovative measures like special trains, electric shuttles, solar-powered lighting, and plant-based food outlets. “The scale of innovations and emissions reductions will speak for themselves,” the band states. Additionally, they’re creating a new climate-resilient woodland near Taunton. Taking place on 25th August, this initiative aligns with the growing plant-based movement, highlighting its potential to inspire eco-friendly practices in other sectors.
Dairy Giant Goes Green: Lactalis Embraces Plant-Based Using Old Milk Facility
Lactalis Canada is setting a new standard by reopening a former dairy plant as a plant-based milk facility. Under the brand “Enjoy!”, they’re producing high-protein oat, almond, and hazelnut milks. Labour’s Animal Rights Agenda: Promising a New Dawn for the UK?
Labour’s 2024 election victory with 412 seats could herald a significant shift in animal rights. The manifesto promises to improve animal welfare, ban trail hunting, puppy smuggling, snare traps, and hunting trophies. Labour also aims to phase out animal testing and end ineffective badger culls. As Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer gears up to address these issues, animal rights advocates hope these pledges translate into action, enhancing the nation’s commitment to ethical treatment of animals. Ethical Globe have this week published an in depth article which I highly recommend taking 10 minutes out of your day to absorb …
Chef Daniel Humm’s Radical Plant-Based Shift: Eleven Madison Park’s Next Chapter
Chef Daniel Humm has transformed Eleven Madison Park (EMP) into a plant-based haven, redefining luxury in dining. Amidst his journey from a Michelin-starred meat-centric menu to innovative plant-based cuisine, Humm faced both skepticism and admiration. “We exhausted the different versions of lobster and duck,” he admits. Now, with a new pantry of plant-based ingredients, EMP leads by example, emphasizing sustainability and creativity. Humm’s next ventures include Bar Clemente and a West Village restaurant, further cementing his commitment to plant-based innovation.
This shift aligns with the growing movement towards veganism, showcasing its potential to revolutionize fine dining.
Kirk Haworth’s Plates: The Vegan Marvel of Shoreditch
Plates, led by GBM winner Kirk Haworth, is a vegan culinary sensation in Shoreditch. This intimate restaurant, tucked away in a quiet courtyard, offers a seasonal tasting menu that even meat-eaters rave about. From the acclaimed “Feast of Farah” to the award-winning “A Taste of Unity” dessert, each dish reflects meticulous detail and passion. As Haworth says, “The scale of innovations and emissions reductions will speak for themselves.” Plates proves that plant-based dining can be both gourmet and sustainable.
What If We Only Ate Plants? A Dutch Utopian Thought Experiment Explained …
Imagine a world where everyone eats only plants. In a bold thought experiment, Dutch experts explore a fully vegan Netherlands. Berno Strootman’s research shows this shift would double the number of farmers, improve environmental justice, and create more room for nature and biodiversity. “We need twice as many farmers in a fully plant-based system,” Strootman states. This transformation promises cleaner air, healthier diets, and economic benefits, proving plant-based living can address major ecological and social challenges.
